Duke of Edinburgh
BSix is proud to be a part of the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) network. The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is the world's leading achievement award for young people and is dedicated to helping them to reach their full potential. The programme is designed to fit around your college schedule and slot into your life quite easily so that you achieve maximum benefit.
DofE ethos: To enable every young person of every background to do their DofE and succeed, regardless of any barriers.
In order to achieve your DofE award you must commit to the following :
Physical: improve in an area of sport, dance or fitness activities. This develops fitness, enjoyment and, depending on the activity, teamwork.
Skill: develop practical and social skills and personal interests. This helps young people to realise their unique potential and gain greater self-esteem.
Volunteering: undertake service to individuals or the community. This develops compassion, commitment and the confidence to make a difference.
Expedition: plan, train for, and complete an adventurous journey in the UK or abroad. This develops teamwork and leadership, and challenges young people to push themselves beyond their expectations".
Dean Modest - BSix is the college DofE Coordinator. He will help you every step of the way by holding regular meetings where everyone can discuss their progress, voice any concerns and positive experiences. You can also talk with fellow students who are on the DofE for helpful tips and advice to successfully accomplish the programme.
We have currently finished our first year as 'Bronze' and the Silver programme is now running. This is an exciting opportunity for you as you access many extracurricular opportunities to help enhance your college qualifications and improve your employability.
See how other young individuals have been impacted by taking part in this fantastic programme.
The DofE programme is open to all so if this sounds like something for you, please contact our Sports Coordinator Dean Modeste : firstname.lastname@example.org and get involved today!
