GLITTERING RESULTS ON BTEC NATIONAL DIPLOMAS

BSix students have just been in to college to collect their BTEC National Diploma results. BTEC National Diplomas are specialised courses equivalent to three A Levels. If students succeed, they are awarded grades described as, in ascending order, Pass, Merit or Distinction.

100% pass rates were recorded on the courses in Art & Design, Business, Children’s Care, Music Technology, Public Services and IT Practitioners. Star of the show is Business where 38 students took the course and 35 achieved high grades (Merits or Distinctions). On all other courses as well a very high proportion achieved high grades.

Jade Ferguson, for example, achieved triple Distinctions in Art & Design and is now going on to study fashion make-up at the London College of Fashion. Looking back on her time at BSix, she thanked her teachers and said “four years of hard work helped me achieve my goal.”

Wilkinson Boateng achieved two Distinctions and a Merit and is off to study Business at Birmingham University. Wilkinson, who was one of BSix’s Learning Advocates, says he is looking forward to university but will miss the opportunity to take part in schemes like Learning Advocacy at BSix. A fellow student on the Business course, Deborah Adegboyega, achieved a massive 17 Distinctions and is headed for Middlesex University. She comments on how her teachers “really did encourage me in all ways. Thank you.” This thought is echoed by Qi Fang who achieved Distinctions on the Children’s Care, Learning & Development course. “It’s a brilliant college which always inspires students and teachers.”

“These are brilliant results”, Ken Warman, BSix’s Principal concludes “in the last few years more and more students at BSix achieve the highest grades – testimony to their hard work and the skills of our teachers. As a result, the doors of really good universities like Queen Mary, Middlesex and Birmingham are open to our BTEC National students. We thank them all for their commitment to the College and wish them all well at university and in their future careers.”
