BSix Investors in People Gold
BSix is a member of the Investors in People scheme which assesses the culture , values and professional development of organisations. The College has recently been assessed again and it has retained its Gold status for another year.
An assessor visited the College for several days , interviewing individuals and groups of staff. She also studied documents and analysed the outcomes of a staff questionnaire. One strong conclusion was that the College has a clear purpose and ethos which are widely shared by staff:
“BSix is an ambitious organisation with a clearly defined mission statement and where the values are lived on a daily basis and are at the heart of everything the college does.”
What came across to the assessor is that the BSix values are very important to staff :
“The values guide how people speak ,look and behave and these are displayed across the College in high quality frames , which include the language to support the values.”
One teacher told her :
‘You can clearly see the comprehensive values in the daily conversations and the way that things are done ; all the leadership has been very aware of the impact their decisions will have on the students and staff.’
There are nine categories in the assessment such as Living the organisation’s values and behaviours and Managing performance. In all nine categories, BSix was judged to be above the education sector average and, in many cases , significantly so.
“This is a great result for the College , its staff and its students”, concludes the BSix Principal Ken Warman. ”Our staff are completely committed to the purpose and values of the College. This strong belief motivates people to give extra so that our students can achieve and progress. This Report is a testimony to this distinctive feature of BSix.”.
