Creative Industries flying high

The 2016/17 academic year was one of brilliant academic, artistic and professional achievement in the Creative Industries department at BSix.

This period was crowned with a set of outstanding results. The huge progress our students have made was acknowledged by BTEC and the University of the Arts London (UAL) awarding body. They marvelled at the quality of the work in all three parts of the department - Art & Design, Creative Media and Music Performance & Production. Level 2 work was seen as being at Level 3 standard and the level 3 work at undergraduate level!

These achievements have just been enhanced by a round of excellent A Level results. All of our students passed and there were 9 As and A*s.

Beyond the statistics, the department has performed and exhibited in many prestigious places. Our music students performed at the Hackney Empire, the UAL national conference in Bloomsbury and at the Barbican Centre as part of Hackney Music Service’s 10th anniversary celebrations. A Roots Festival at an off-site venue in Hackney displayed the whole department’s work to staff, parents and the general public.

“This has been a great year for the department”, says Head Kishan Pithia. ”There is a real creative buzz amongst both staff and students. They have inspired each other to produce their very best work. They have set a very high bar for next year but we are determined to exceed  it next year.”

“These results represent a very special achievement,” the BSix Principal Ken Warman adds. "The department has brought so much life, excitement and joy to the College. I wish to thank all our staff and students for this.”
