Investors in People Gold
BSix has recently been assessed by the Investors in People scheme which examines the culture, values and professional development of organisations across all sectors of the economy. BSix has been awarded Gold status!
An assessor visited the College for several days, studied documents and data and interviewed staff. The subsequent report concludes that staff morale is high at the College and that there is a strong and widely shared commitment to the BSix values (see below). The assessor noted that “everyone is highly committed to the success of the students, and they tend to think of the students before themselves.”
Kevin Watson, Principal of Leyton Sixth Form College
The report also records a powerful commitment to professional development, to becoming even better at their roles in the College. Teachers and Heads of Department expressed particular appreciation of working on teaching and learning with Kevin Watson, Principal of Leyton Sixth Form College. This has involved the observation of lessons alongside other teachers. This project is to be expanded and enhanced in 2017/18 to incorporate all staff.
There are 9 criteria of success in the Investors in People assessment and BSix scored above the education sector average on all 9.
“This is great news for the College,” BSix’s Principal Ken Warman concludes. "We want BSix to be a vibrant learning community for everyone-all staff including managers, teachers and support and, of course, our students. We are well on the way to making our slogan, ‘a university for teachers’, a living reality but not just for teachers!”
