Canterbury Christ Church University seeks to work in partnership with local, regional, national and international learning communities, public and private sector organisations and others in order to realise the transformative potential of education through the creation, development and transfer of knowledge.
BSix College began work with Canterbury Christ Church University in November 2007 to align and develop our Music course curriculum offer to establish suitable progression routes for our music students. The partnership was developed with the support of The Creative Way organisation, with the aim to also encourage inner city students to look beyond London for their potential University progression. The collaborative work between institutions facilitates educational visits to the Broadstairs campus so that BSix students can get a first hand experience of what University life at CCCU would be like. Again the emphasis is on broadening horizons and equipping our students with the best advice, guidance and knowledge so that they are able to make informed choices about their futures. A formal Progression agreement was signed at a celebratory event in November 2009.
Dr Andrew Gower, Director of Canterbury Christ Church University's Broadstairs Campus says:
"The University is grateful to The Creative Way for their support in encouraging and enabling students from the Thames Gateway to progress to degrees in Music at Canterbury Christ Church University's Broadstairs Campus. I'm delighted that through this partnership the new, exciting courses in Creative Music Technology, Music Production and Music Industry Management are proving really popular with students, including students who may not have thought Higher Education was for them. The three degrees are designed for all students who have a passion for music technology and the music industry."
Liz Pearson, Director of The Creative Way, said:
“We are proud to have funded this groundbreaking collaboration. To get a cutting-edge private studio in collaboration with CCCU, a leader in this field is fantastic news for BSix students. They can now take a supported progression route to and through higher level study in a way that suites them – either through the HNC at Point Blank, in Hackney, or straight to the BA at CCU. Both courses offer students tangible practical skills that the industry needs and allow these talented young people an opportunity to add to the growing creative economy in East London and the Thames Gateway.” |
