Creative and Media Higher Diploma (Level 2)
This is an exciting new course developed with the support of employers in the arts industry. It offers students an exploration of the creative arts in its broadest sense, with opportunities for real ‘hands on’ experience and insight through work-related learning. Students on this course will become creative thinkers, effective communicators and flexible enterprising practitioners. The Diploma will provide choices for young people who wish to learn more about the creative and media industries, while also exploring creativity and the creative application of skills within a flexible programme. Whether you aspire to be a fashion designer, creative writer, advertising director or musician, the Diploma offers a broad and engaging learning experience, with opportunities to explore a range of creative and media-related disciplines. You will complete six units which are structured around four integrated themes: creativity in context, thinking and working creatively, the principles, process and practices behind the work and commercial skills for creative business and enterprise. You will also have the opportunity to complete an extended project in which you select an area of the Creative Arts that inspires further exploration. An integral part of this course is also linked to the achievement of functional skills in English, Maths and ICT, and it also provides you with the option to study an extra subject as ‘Additional Learning’.
