Specialised Diploma in Society, Health and Development (Level 2)

The Specialised Diploma in Society, Health and Development is a one year course which aims to: provide opportunities for students to develop skills, attitudes and approaches which will enable them to meet their own aspirations, and successfully work with and for others in the community and wider society, provide students with progression routes to other Diplomas, work-based training, further or higher education and include work placement, visits to care settings/public service organisations, guest speakers from various organisations as part of the curriculum offer and provide students with the opportunities to relate theory to practice. You will study nine units, all of which are compulsory. The units are: principles, values and personal development, working together and communicating, safeguarding and protecting individuals, growth, development and healthy living, needs and preferences, anti-social and offending behaviour, supporting children and young people, patient-centred health and the social model of disability.
