CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Working with Children in Early Years and Primary Settings.
The Level 2 Certificate in Working with Children in Early Years and Primary Settings covers a range of key subject areas that will provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to care for and educate children aged between 0 and 11 years old.

The course consists of the six units below and a short answer paper.

  • 1. Child development from birth to 11 years 11 months
  • 2. Play and learning.
  • 3. Exploring legislation.
  • 4. The role of the childcare practitioner.
  • 5. Nutrition.
  • 6. Physical development and physical activity.

The course also requires you to attend placement within a nursery environment.

Progression
The course has been designed to support you to progress onto Level 3 qualifications across a number of sectors, including the Early Years Educator sector, the Supporting Teaching and Learning sector, and the Children and Young People sector. It also contains significant transferable knowledge for the Health and Social Care sector.

Recommended Reading:
Course books are required, which can be borrowed for a whole year from the library.

Teachers

There are two full time- teachers in the Childcare department who teach on the course. Each member of the team is an outstanding teacher and has extensive industry experience.

Childcare beyond the classroom and recent events:
As part of the departmental rewards programme, Level 2 students visited a local nursery and spent the day with staff and children. The students supported staff with mealtimes and activities. The feedback was excellent!
