Overview
The Level 3 Extended Diploma for IT Practitioners is a full time programme of study that is the equivalent of three A Levels. Over two years you will study 18 units covering all aspects of IT -from computer programming to IT systems support, from numerical modelling with spreadsheets to website development. There is a strong emphasis on business in the IT Practitioners diploma and some of the units are very business oriented. This course will lead to a specialism in: IT and business systems, software design and development, and computer games development. You will develop knowledge, understanding and practical skills in the fields of ICT, web design and e-commerce, data communication, and expert systems computing. This BTEC National Diploma is a specialist qualification that focuses on particular aspects of employment within the sector and is equivalent to three A Levels. It provides the underpinning knowledge and understanding for IT practitioners or technicians in employment who would like to obtain a Level 3 qualification. Students who have passed both Maths and English at GCSE grade C are encouraged to study some Free Standing Maths Units at Level 3 to support their application to university. After completing the course you will be ready for either university
of employment.
