BSix is keen to help its students gain the skills they need to be successful in the world work. The college has a long tradition of producing successful entrepreneurs. Lord Sugar, star of the BBC series The Apprentice, attended what was then known as Brooke House Secondary School in the 1950s.

The college now runs a year-long programme of employability and enterprise events, helps students find a variety of work placements, and engages strongly with London businesses and enterprise charities and organisations. BSix has a dedicated Employability and Enterprise Coordinator who is available to meet with students each week and discuss employability issues. In addition to this support, students can also access a weekly Jobs and CV workshop run by the Careers Advisers.

For the first time this academic year, BSix will be running a cross-borough Apprenticeships Fair. The event will bring together employers from across London, and is part of BSix’s aim to be a champion of apprenticeship provision in Hackney. Students also have chance to take part in the ‘B£6 Challenge’, a cross-college enterprise project that sees students trying to produce a profit from £6 seed capital.
