About The Course
This course will provide you with an introduction to criminal justice and give a context for humanities learning. It covers 4 units; Changing Awareness of Crime, Criminological Theories, Crime Scene to Courtroom, and Crime and Punishment. Together with other relevant qualifications, such as GCE Law, Psychology, and Sociology, it develops the understanding to support entry to higher education courses in the humanities sector.
How Is The Course Taught?
Learning is through classroom delivery with a dedicated teacher. You will also learn through workshops, visits, independent learning time. You will have access to our Learning Resource Centre which has an extensive library, that includes textbooks, journals, and access to online resources as well as student photocopying facilities.
How will I be Assessed?
The qualification is assessed through 4 assignments, 50% internally assessed and 50% externally assessed, all are under controlled conditions. Your final assessment will be synoptic drawing together your learning over the 2 years. You will be provided with past papers and mark schemes to help and support your preparation for the assessments. You are allowed two re-sits for each assessment.
What does it lead to?
On completion of this course, you can progress onto Higher Education to study a range of Humanities degrees at university, including Criminology. In terms of career opportunities, the course can lead to employment in the criminal justice charity sector, Civil Service roles, Local government officer, Police officer, Probation officer, Youth justice worker or a Social researcher earning between £32,000 to £41,000 per annum.
