About The Course

You will be learning to understand human growth and development through the life stages, exploring cultural diversity, developing effective communication skills, and exploring the impact of diet on people’s health.

How Is The Course Taught?

A variety of teaching methods are used to match varied assessment tasks. These include classroom lessons, workshops in the LRC and visits from external speakers. There are also organised visits for every unit and a well-resourced VLE to help with independent study

How will I be Assessed?

All units in this qualification are internally graded A* – D. Units will be assessed through a range of activities including written tasks, role play, verbal presentations and displays.

Learners will produce a portfolio that demonstrates their learning and skills in the workplace. You will receive assignments made up of a variety of tasks and be expected to meet deadlines for assignments.

What does it lead to?

The health and social care sector is one of the biggest employers in the UK with nearly four million people working in the sector. It is a job that will always be in demand.

On successful completion of the course, you may progress onto the NCFE/CACHE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care or Child Care or a Level 3 apprenticeship. These can lead to university and a professional qualification such as a nurse or social worker with starting salaries of around £27,000 a year

You will also be able to apply for work in the health and social care sector as a Care Worker or Health Care Assistant. You can apply for jobs at the Homerton Hospital for example with a level 2 qualification with salaries of £22,000 a year.
