About The Course

Studying languages at BSix enables you to study technological and social change, looking at diversity and the benefits it brings. You will study the language countries’ culture, including music and cinema and politics. To broaden your horizons and knowledge the exam boards have included a wide variety of set texts and films which are rich in cultural differences. You will also explore the influence of the past on present-day foreign language-speaking communities and will learn the language in the context of the issues and influences which have shaped them. We offer the qualification in Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic, Turkish and Italian.   

How Is The Course Taught?

You will be taught by subject specialist teachers using a range of resources and activitiesAssessment tasks will be varied and cover listening, speaking, reading and writing skills and you will be expected to organise your time and subject folders in a professional manner. Self-led, research and revision is a key element.

How will I be Assessed?

You will be internally assessed via written assessments, homework tasks and mock exams. You will take two public exams at the end of the year.

What does it lead to?

You can decide to study a language as part of your study programme for one year to achieve an AS-Level qualification or over two years to achieve a full A-Level. 

 A language at A-level is a highly regarded qualification which will support your application to higher education courses including international relations, business management, marketing, and tourism. It also gives you skills to apply for positions in organisations with international links such as banks and chartered accountancy firms, which could enable you to earn up to £50,000 per year.
