HUE Programmes

A varied range of academic courses offered by our university partners. "The Cambridge mathematics residential has taught me to become a better problem solver through being: 'resourceful and resilient'. Cambridge has honestly become a second home - thank you for such a growth in learning - an opportunity and change I'll cherish!" – Faija Uddin

The Hackney University Extension has been running since 2008. The programme for this academic year offers students the chance to participate in a range of academic courses taught by university academics. The 2018/19 programme sees the continued involvement of the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, and Queen Mary’s University, the University of London. The programme is led and organised by BSix and brings together Y12 students from schools across Hackney to work with our university partners across the UK.

Each course focusses on a particular university subject, and is based on a relevant theme from that academic discipline. Students take part in lectures, seminars, Easter schools, and residential summer schools.

Student feedback is incredible from these programmes and has proven impact on broadening horizons for our students and giving them the skills and confidence to apply for universities that they otherwise might not have considered. We have seen recent BSix graduates progress to an increasing number of Russell Group universities.
