About The Course

This Photography 2-year A Level course offers students the opportunity to explore a wide variety of photographic processes including how to use a DSLR camera and build digital editing skills using industry standard software such as Photoshop and illustrator. Students also learn experimental approaches using processes such as screen printing and cyanotype. Research and analytical skills are developed, and in response to different briefs students create imaginative and innovative outcomes.

How Is The Course Taught?

You will be taught by tutors with industry experience and taught in our dedicated facilities including iMac suites, photography and art studios – an open-plan space that encourages ideas sharing between students. The course is comprised of taught lessons, practical workshops, independent study, seminars, group critiques and presentations. You will be expected to work with increasing independence, bringing your own ideas, creative style and a professional attitude to your studies.

How will I be Assessed?

The course is comprised of multiple projects over the two years. These projects are concluded with an assessment that can include a submission of work, presentation or an exam. These projects are internally assessed by your tutors. The final project of your second year is externally moderated by the exam board. 

What does it lead to?

This course is suitable for anyone who wishes to pursue a career in the creative industries including Photographer, Architecture, Digital Media, Graphics, Visual Communication, Fashion and Textiles, Illustration, Product Design, Set Design and Arts Managemenwhich could enable you to earn between £30,000 – £60,000 per year.After thiscourse, you can progress onto the Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Art & Design, a degree at university, or onto a creative apprenticeship.
