About The Course
Business Enterprise Level 1 is a course of study that teaches the basic principles of business administration and business practices. This Level 1 qualification is designed to create interest in business and enterprise management, help you understand what skills and knowledge are needed to enter the business sector and also help you gain a sound foundation for office work.
Alongside the qualification in Business Enterprise, students will be able to develop key employability skills such as problem-solving, communication, resilience and organisation through running their own real Young Enterprise company. You will learn about the essence of enterprise – understanding customers, selling and marketing products, making difficult decisions, working as a team, taking and sharing responsibility as well as develop certain practical skills needed to manage your business effectively, e.g. how to create business documents, use office equipment or organise a business meeting etc. Being an active participant in the Young Enterprise Company Programme will give you an insight into the world of business and work and help you when considering your career choices.
How Is The Course Taught?
The course will be taught within a variety of learning environments, ranging from classrooms, the Learning Resource Centre, computer suites and boardrooms at the Citibank Canary Wharf London Head Office. The course is taught by a member of staff with vast teaching experience and supported and guided by the Citibank Business Advisers alongside the Area Manager for Young Enterprise
How will I be Assessed?
There is continuous assessment mostly through written assignments but there will be a range of formal and informal assessment procedures conducted by the teacher during the learning process, e.g. online quizzes, practical activities, presentations and professional discussions aimed at improving students’ attainment.
What does it lead to?
Successful completion of the course can lead to progression onto various Level 2 courses ranging from Business or IT to Public Services or GCSE. This progression is dependent on gaining a Pass grade, excellent attendance, commitment to your college studies and being successful at an internal progression interview with the relevant Head of Department. You will also need to have passed Functional Skills Level 1 in both Maths and English and working towards Level 2. Alternatively, you can enter employment or apply for an apprenticeship in the business administration sector.
