About The Course
The Extended Diploma in Art & Design covers a wide range of techniques and skills in 2D, 3D and 4D practices including drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, textiles, sculpture and visual communication. You will learn how to work independently, using your creativity to interpret briefs, generate ideas and refine your practical skills. Over the course, you will increasingly tailor your work towards your own personal specialism and interests.
How Is The Course Taught?
You will be taught by tutors with industry experience who will teach you skills including using a range of technical equipment and digital software taught in our dedicated iMac suites, photography and art studios – an open-plan space that encourages ideas sharing between students. The qualification is 100% coursework. You will be expected to work with increasing independence throughout the course, bringing your own ideas, creative style and a professional attitude to your studies.
How will I be Assessed?
The qualification is 100% coursework which is internally assessed, with the final major project in the summer term externally moderated by the awarding body. You will be given supportive feedback from tutors which you will use to develop and improve your skills.
What does it lead to?
This course is suitable for anyone who wishes to pursue a career in the creative industries including Advertising, Marketing, Graphic Design, Fabric/Textile Design, Fashion, Photography, Fine Art, Interior Design, Architecture and Set Design, which could enable you to earn between £30,000 – £60,000 per year. Following this course, you can progress on to the Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Art & Design, to a degree at university, or onto a creative apprenticeship.
