About The Course

This course provides a good mix of film, television, print, music and sound. You will be gaining valuable practical skills, getting relevant qualifications and preparing yourself for working in industry or progressing on to university. There are a variety of progression routes you can expect to take on completion of this course ranging from: marketing and advertising, public relations, research and naturally the film and television industries. On the course, you will learn about the industry, its structure and many of the key issues that media practitioners face.  

In order to enhance your experience, you can also expect to take various media-related trips and speak to industry professionals, either through guest speakers or as part of our mentor scheme: Arts Emergency. This initiative provides the opportunity to be mentored for a year by current media professionals. 

How Is The Course Taught?

Learning is through classroom delivery in our dedicated iMac suites and studios. You will also learn through workshops, gallery visits, work experience and independent learning time, with an average of 2 teachers delivering the course. You will have access to: Full suite of Canon Digital SLR CamerasFull range of specialist filming equipment such as track and dolly, camera jib and green screen and multi-camera technologyPhotography Studio and LightingFull Adobe Suite Package including Premier, Photoshop and After Effects. 

How will I be Assessed?

The qualification is 100% coursework which is internally assessed, with the final major project in the summer term externally moderated by the awarding body. You will be given supportive feedback from tutors which you will use to develop and improve your skills. 

What does it lead to?

On completion of this course, you can progress to university or onto a creative apprenticeshipPotential career opportunities include options within TV and Film industries, Photography, Journalism and Advertising industries and you could earn between £32,000 to £40,000 per annum.
