In addition to this the course has a focus on modern music production and live performance. You will be taught advanced composition and production techniques in order to make the most of Industry standard software such as Logic Pro X and Abelton. You will be given complete creative freedom in your final projects to focus on making the music that you love, not what an exam board tells you.

Live performances take place throughout the year allowing every student the opportunity to get to the stage whether they’re a soloist, instrumentalist, DJ or even producer. Events are held in established music venues in and around Hackney to prepare you properly for the real world.

How Is The Course Taught?

The course is taught through a combination of workshops, seminars, small group work and independent creative time. All our music tutors are experienced musicians who continue to record perform and produce in the industry to ensure they stay relevant.

How will I be Assessed?

The qualification is 100% coursework which is internally assessed, with the final major project in the summer term externally moderated by the awarding body. You will be given supportive feedback from tutors which you will use to develop and improve your skills. Assessment evidence can be generated in a written and/or video diary form. Gigs, rehearsals and studio sessions will also form part of your assessment evidence.

What does it lead to?

This programme is designed to prepare you for either University study or entry-level positions in the Industry. Students progress on to a variety of University courses such as Music Performance, Pop Performance, Music Management, Music Technology and Sound Design. Possible jobs you could progress to after further study include: Session Musician, Music Manager or a DJ and could earn between £42,000 – £80,000 per annum.
