BSix is the only sixth form college in the area. This means that, unlike a school sixth form, we are big enough to offer many choices of course and level. It also means that, unlike a large college catering for adults as well, we are small enough to specialise in the education of young people and to provide individual care and attention for all of our students.

Key strengths of the college: "effective strategies to improve success rates" ; "good relationships which promote learning" ; "strong leadership"
- Ofsted 2009

January blues? Want to do something new, but not sure what? Not got the literacy and maths levels you need to move on to a career, or, not sure what you would like to do – but you want to do something?
‘Gateway’ is a new department at BSix offering students the chance to develop themselves and their career aspirations. There are currently two courses in the department which you can join in January and which will provide you with skills, work experience and also a qualification alongside literacy and numeracy. You will need to be interviewed and complete an application from (this can be on-line) and provide a reference and any other certificates you may gained at school/college or elsewhere.

Certificate in Skills for Working Life
This course offers you the chance to explore a variety of avenues if you are unsure as to what you want to do in the future. The course opens up vocational pathways in hair and beauty, sports, art and other subjects. You will study at Entry level E1 to E3. You will need to be interviewed and show your ability to work on the course alongside improving your literacy and numeracy skills.

BTEC Introductory Diploma in Vocational Studies
